Unix timestamp
- It’s the number of seconds that have elapsed since 00:00:00 UTC on Thursday, 1 January 1970 (the Unix Epoch).
- Does not count leap seconds (Leap second: An extra second inserted into UTC time to keep atomic clocks in sync with Earth’s slightly irregular rotation.)
-
Widely used in programming, databases, APIs, and file systems.
